Don brings almost 50 years of frontline aviation experience. He began his career as a commissioned officer in the Royal Air Force, serving in England, Northern Ireland, The Maldives, Nepal, and later at the British Embassy in Washington, DC.

After leaving the RAF, Don managed a flight planning and dispatch organization in San Francisco before joining Cathay Pacific in 1986. He later moved to Hong Kong as General Manager of Kai Tak Airport, where he oversaw the Cathay Pacific Emergency Centre (CEPIC). In that role, he was directly involved in major aviation emergencies including the 1994 Aeroflot crash enroute to Hong Kong, the 1994 Heavylift C130 crash at Kai Tak, the 1993 China Airlines Flight 605 accident in Hong Kong Harbour, and the 1999 China Airlines Flight 642 crash at Chek Lap Kok.

Over 19 years with Cathay Pacific, Don held leadership roles in the USA, Hong Kong, and Southern Africa before joining Virgin Atlantic Airways, where he was one of two Crisis Commanders responsible for chairing the Emergency Centre. He went on to serve in senior leadership positions at Oman Air and TAAG Angola Airways as Chief Officer of Airport Operations, where he continued to lead emergency response preparedness.

Don also spent six years as a lecturer with IATA, specializing in Emergency Planning and Preparedness, and later worked as a consultant with Seabury Aviation. Most recently, he served with Air India as Consultant to the COO and CXO, and then as Acting Head of Global Airport Operations.
