Tim served in the London Fire Brigade (LFB) for 31 years, progressing from fire-fighter to Assistant Commissioner, where he was regularly in charge of the whole of the LFB and over 5,000 staff.

Over the 3 decades he attended 1,000s of incidents including the Kings Cross Fire, the 7/7 bombings, the Grenfell Fire and the Westminster Bridge terrorist attack.
Since 2002, he was a National Inter-agency Liaison Officer (NILO), a Security Cleared post responsible for co-ordinating the FRS response to terrorist attacks, public order, firearms and other critical incidents. From 2012 he had the honour to be the national NILO co-ordinator and lead on the national Joint Emergency Service Interoperability Principles (JESIP) and Counter Terrorism programmes.

Tim played a key role in the London Resilience Forum where he managed the London Resilience Team and was involved in planning for and responding to incidents including the London Olympics, Ebola, Pandemic flu, flooding, industrial action and terrorist attacks.

Since retiring Tim has continued his focus on public safety where he been responsible for Safety for the London Marathon, the Wimbledon Tennis Championship, the Chelsea Flower Show, the Commonwealth Games and the Queens Funeral.

Internationally, Tim worked for the UK Foreign Office and has represented the UK in over 15 countries providing Counter Terrorism and Business Continuity advice, including support to Qatar in its preparations for the World Cup and safety advice to Richard Branson’s staff on Necker Island.

Tim has his own company and is a Senior Associate with the Cabinet Offices UK Resilience Academy.
